Hummer leads Princeton past Buffalo 61-53

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — Ian Hummer recorded a double-double and Princeton got off to a fast start to beat Buffalo 61-53 on Saturday.

Hummer, who finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, scored his first basket 1:18 into the game to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead. Princeton then went on a 26-11 run to take a 31-11 lead with 3:00 to play in the first half. Two free throws by Hummer capped off the run.

Hummer leads Princeton (1-2) with averages of 17 points and six rebounds per game.

Buffalo (2-1) fought back, cutting the deficit down to seven, 57-50, late in the second half. But Douglas Davis nailed two free throws to put the game out of reach for the Tigers.

Davis, Princeton’s second leading scorer at 16.5 points per game, finished with 16 points and shot 83.3 percent (5 of 6) from the line.
