Talking Points: Tebow legend grows

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Less than a month ago, commenters inundated ESPN with jokes about various things that were greater than Tim Tebow. Among the more tame ones included: Aging as fast as Greg Oden, death, and Nickelback.

But since the Florida product has astonishingly led the Broncos to a 4-1 record since taking over as the starting quarterback, the new trend is elevating Tebow to demigod status. Among the remarks now?

“The active ingredient in Red Bull is Tim Tebow’s sweat,” “They are renaming the dollar the Tebow because Tebow owns the fourth quarter,” and “Good night everyone, and Tebow bless you.”

Basically, no matter how Tebow performs, we’ll all stay entertained.

There is talk of Matt Kemp winning the National League MVP despite the Dodgers missing the playoffs, and Talking Points is OK with that.

Kemp was the NL’s greatest offensive weapon this year, and could not control his team’s winning percentage.

Unlike a basketball or hockey player, who can simply demand the ball or puck, a baseball player can only control what happens when he is in the batter’s box, base path, and when a ball his hit way in the field.

So if he helps your team win an additional 20 games, and that team goes 25-137, he should still be a candidate for the award.
