Williams boosts Utah Valley over UMKC 58-54

OREM, Utah (AP) — Isiah Williams scored 17 points, including the go-ahead jumper, to lead Utah Valley to a 58-54 victory over UMKC on Saturday night.

Williams hit the shot with about 7 minutes left to break a 45-all tie. He later sank a 3-pointer, his third of the game, to give the Wolverines (3-1) a 6-point lead with about minute and a half left.

Keith Thompson finished with 16 points while Geddes Robinson pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds for Utah Valley.

The Kangaroos (1-3) led by as many as seven points in the first half and were up 25-22 at halftime. But they fell behind by 10 points early in the second half before coming back and tying it midway through the period.

UMKC’s Reggie Chamberlain led the game with 19 points while Trinity Hall added 11. The Kangaroos outrebounded the Wolverines 34-33.
