CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Not long ago Wisconsin wonder what it had left to play for. A pair of losses ended the Badgers’ hopes of a national title.

But a three-game winning streak capped by Saturday’s 28-17 win over Illinois has Wisconsin (9-2, 5-2 Big Ten) a win away from a place in the Big Ten championship game. The only hurdle left to clear is Penn State at home on Saturday.

Bielema said the Badgers have had to band together after the two losses. Montee Ball’s 200-plus yards a game since then have certainly helped.

Saturday’s game only increased the uncertainty at Illinois (6-5, 2-5) for Ron Zook and his staff. Offensive coordinator Paul Petrino warned that fans shouldn’t be too quick to break up what he said is a great staff of coaches.
