PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The mother of a Portland man who went missing last summer near Bagby Hot Springs fears the worst.

The mother, Carol Degagne, told The Oregonian (http://bit.ly/suwTSX ) she no longer believes Steven Moline is alive and wants to know what happened.

He was with four friends last June, driving toward the springs in the Mount Hood National Forest when they decided to turn around because they were low on gas. They say Moline decided to get out and walk.

They called 911 and said he had wandered off in the forest.

Degagne says her 30-year-old son had epilepsy and other illnesses and wouldn’t have tried to walk that far.

The Clackamas County sheriff’s office says investigators have no reason to believe Moline is dead. It remains a missing person case.
