NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Kyle Vinales, Ken Horton and Robby Ptacek combined for 71 points in Central Connecticut State’s 77-69 win over Maryland-Baltimore County on Tuesday night.

The Retrievers closed the gap to four, 67-63, but Vinales and Ptacek each hit four free throws to help seal the victory.

Vinales led all scorers with 29 points while Ptacek and Horton each added 21.

UMBC outshot CCSU (2-2) from the field, 45 percent (29 for 64) to 43 percent (24 for 56), and outrebounded the Blue Devils 41-33. But UMBC sent CCSU to the free throw line 30 times compared to just 10 attempts for the Retrievers.
