HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) — Alex Tucker scored four of his eight points in the game’s final 44 seconds, including a layup with 2 seconds left, to send Florida Atlantic to a 62-60 win over Hofstra on Tuesday night.

There were four ties and three lead changes in the final 3 minutes, which also included a battle of individual scorers for both teams.

FAU’s Greg Gantt scored nine straight points, while Hofstra’s Mike Moore scored seven of his team’s final nine.

After Gantt’s 3-pointer put FAU (3-3) up by two, Shemiye McLendon knotted the game at 58-all with 1 minute left. Tucker hit a jumper just inside the final minute and Moore answered by going 2-for-2 from the line with 26 seconds left, setting the stage for Tucker’s game-winner.

Gantt led the Owls with 21 points.

Moore paced the Pride (2-2) with 20 points.
