Sacred Heart downs Hampton 78-71 in Cancun

CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Steve Glowiak scored a career-high 16 points to lead five Sacred Heart players in double figures Tuesday in a 78-71 victory over Hampton at the Cancun Challenge.

Glowiak hit four 3-pointers to pace an 11-for-20 long-range onslaught for the Pioneers (3-2), who snapped a two-game losing streak.

Shane Gibson added 13 points, and Justin Swidowski, Evan Kelley and Chris Evans scored 10 points apiece.

Darrion Pellum scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Pirates (1-3), who dropped their third in a row. David Bruce added 13 and Christopher Tolson 12.

The Pioneers led 46-31 at halftime.

Sacred Heart will face Lipscomb on Wednesday, while Hampton will play Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.
