Sadler scores 21, Delaware beats Cornell 72-64

NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Devon Saddler scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half to lead Delaware over Cornell 72-64 on Tuesday night.

The Blue Hens (1-2) trailed 58-57 after Drew Ferry hit a 3-pointer for the Big Red with 3:39 to play.

Jamelle Hagins then book-ended a 10-0 run on a pair of free throws as Delaware pulled away. Hagins’ shots started the run with 1:56 to play to put the Blue Hens up for good, 59-58.

Delaware outscored the Big Red 44-38 and outrebounded them 21-15 in the second half.

Cornell (2-3) scored 21 points off 17 Delaware turnovers, but shot just 37.5 percent (24 of 64).

Hagins finished with 13 points for the Blue Hens, who were 12 of 22 from the field in the second half (54.5 percent).

Ferry led the Big Red with 16 points, going 4 of 9 from 3-point range.
