BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — Chase Simon scored 20 points and Detroit made 8 of 10 free throws in overtime to hold off Austin Peay 94-93 on Wednesday, denying the Governors their first win.

The Titans (3-3) led 50-37 at halftime, but Austin Peay (0-6) fought back to tie the score at 80 on a TyShwan Edmondson jumper with 49 seconds left in regulation in the Progressive CBE Classic.

Detroit missed two free throws and a layup in the next 9 seconds, then the Governors’ Jerome Clyburn missed a jumper in the closing seconds, forcing overtime.

The Titans led the entire extra period, taking their biggest lead at 90-85 with 28 seconds left on a dunk by Doug Anderson, who finished with 18 points.

Simon, who reached 1,000 career points, and Jason Calliste, hit two foul shots apiece in the final 16 seconds, then Clyburn hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.
