North Carolina Central dominates Morris 112-50

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Ray Willis scored 24 points and Nick Chasten added 20 to lead North Carolina Central in a 112-50 rout of Morris College on Wednesday night.

The Eagles (2-3) fell behind after the Hornets’ Clinton Chisolm hit a 3-pointer 19 seconds in. But they responded on a 24-8 run, capped by Landon Clement’s 3-pointer, and they wouldn’t trail the rest of the way.

North Carolina Central led by as many as 64, 112-48, on Ebuka Anyaorah’s free throw with 52 seconds remaining.

Dominique Sutton finished with 19 points, Anyaorah 18 and Clement 14 for the Eagles, who shot 68.4 percent (39 of 57). They outscored the NAIA Hornets 62-30 in the first half, thanks to 75 percent shooting from the field (24 of 32).

North Carolina Central, which snapped a two-game losing streak, outscored Morris 56-22 and scored 30 points off 18 turnovers.

Justin Akieme had 13 points for the Hornets.
