GOLD BAR, Wash. (AP) — City officials in the small Snohomish County town of Gold Bar say a major water main break has forced the town to shut down its water system.

KOMO-TV reports that according to an outgoing message at Gold Bar City Hall, the break occurred sometime Wednesday night.

City officials say they’re working on the problem and hope to have the water system back up soon. There’s no timeline for when the city’s 2,200 residents will once again have water.

When the system is restored, Donn Moyer of the Washington Health Department says residents will need to boil their water before using it.

There’s no word yet on what caused the break.
