Wilson not letting fumbles get into his head

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) — David Wilson set a handful of lofty goals for himself when he became the starting tailback for No. 6 Virginia Tech.

The school’s single-season and single-game rushing records. Twenty touchdowns, and at least one in every game. Averaging 6 yards per carry. All-ACC. All-American. Oh, and no fumbles.

The junior tailback is well on his way to reaching some of his goals, but he enters Saturday’s Coastal Division showdown at No. 24 Virginia with seven fumbles.

He says he’s not thinking about it because that will only make it worse.

Hokies coach Frank Beamer says he’s not worried, either. He says Wilson runs hard and the fumbles have come when he doesn’t see the contact coming.
