KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A 23-year-old Kennewick man has been sentenced to nine months in jail for stabbing a relative with a kitchen knife at a birthday party.

Jose Guadalupe Robles Jr. said in a plea statement he was drunk at the time of the Oct. 15 incident. He was sentenced in Benton County Superior Court Wednesday after pleading guilty to second-degree assault.

Robles stabbed his relative two times after they got into an argument, according to court documents. As part of his sentence Robles will have to pay his relative’s hospital costs.
