Syracuse and Cincinnati each desperate for a win

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Syracuse’s seniors have been on a roller-coaster ride that’s gone on much too long, and they’re set on winning the last home game of their college careers.

That comes Saturday when the Orange (5-5, 1-4 Big East) meet Cincinnati (7-3, 3-2) in the Carrier Dome.

Since its riveting 49-23 upset of West Virginia a month ago, Syracuse has lost three straight conference games, and with two to play needs another win to become eligible for a bowl game.

The Bearcats are still in the hunt for the Big East title, but they’ve lost two straight and have become somewhat vulnerable without senior quarterback Zach Collaros, who’s out for the rest of the regular season with a broken ankle.
