ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin has left Saturday night’s game against Texas Tech, dealing a blow to his Heisman Trophy chances.

Griffin took a hard shot to the helmet late while sliding at the end of a run late in the first half. Griffin then came back after just one play on the sideline and scored on a 3-yard keeper.

But backup quarterback Nick Florence took the field to start the second half. Griffin stood on the sideline with a towel in his hand but didn’t have his helmet.

Baylor officials said Griffin wouldn’t return, but gave no reason why.

Griffin completed 7 of 11 passes for 106 yards and a touchdown, and ran 14 times for 62 yards and two scores.
