IUPUI routs Texas Southern 74-55

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Alex Young hit five 3-point shots, Sean Esposito added four from long range and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis broke open a close game with a big second half for a 74-55 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday night.

Young finished with 30 points and Esposito 12 points for the Jaguars (2-4). Lyonell Gaines and Christian Siakam each had 10 rebounds.

IUPUI converted 7 of 13 3-point shots in the second half to spark a 46-27 run after the teams were deadlocked at 28 at halftime.

IUPUI also scored 15 second-chance points, nearly double that of the Tigers (1-4).

Texas Southern suffered a cold-shooting night, hitting just 34.4 percent of its field-goal attempts and just 11.1 on its 3-point tries.

Omar Strong came off the bench to score 12 points for Texas Southern.
