Middle Tennessee defeats Austin Peay 90-70

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Marcos Knight scored 16 points and led five Middle Tennessee players in double figures in the Blue Raiders’ 90-70 win over Austin Peay Saturday night.

The Blue Raiders (6-1), who never trailed, led 38-30 at halftime before opening the second half on a 15-2 run. LaRon Dendy’s layup capped the run, and put them up 53-32 with 16:22 remaining.

Austin Peay, which shot 36.2 percent for the game (21 of 58), was 1 of 8 during the spurt.

Middle Tennessee shot 64.7 percent for the game (33 of 51), including a 7 of 14 effort from 3-point range, and outrebounded the Governors 40-26.

Dendy and Shawn Jones finished with 13 points each, Kerry Hammonds 12 and Jason Jones 10 for the Blue Raiders.

TyShawn Edmondson paced the Governors (0-7) with 14 points and Melvin Baker chipped in 12. Austin Peay trailed by as many as 22, with 50 seconds left.
