ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Isaiah Canaan scored 36 points, including seven in the second overtime, and Murray State staved off a furious second-half comeback to defeat Southern Mississippi on Saturday night in the championship game of the Great Alaska Shootout.
The Racers (7-0) shot 60 percent in the first half and opened a 12-point halftime lead, 39-27.
Rashard McGill’s two free throws for the Golden Eagles (4-2) with 42 seconds left in regulation tied the game at 69.
A three-pointer by LaShay Page in the first overtime gave Southern Mississippi its only lead. Canaan scored the only other basket in the first overtime, a three-pointer with 54 seconds left to tie it 72.
