Western Kentucky beats Southeast Louisiana 72-67

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Teeng Akol scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help Western Kentucky rally and beat Southeast Louisiana 72-67 on Saturday night.

George Fant scored 15 points, Derrick Gordon added 14 and Kevin Kaspar had 10 for the Hilltoppers.

Teeng’s two free throws gave Western Kentucky a 29-27 advantage, but Onochie Ochie hit a 3-pointer to give Southeast Louisiana a 30-29 lead. It was the last time the Lions would lead, as the Hilltoppers scored the last five buckets of the first half to take a 40-30 lead into the break.

Western Kentucky (2-5) would go on a 12-6 run to go ahead 52-36 with 15:54 left in a game.

Southeast Louisiana (3-2) pulled within six, 64-58, with 2:21 remaining but Kahlil McDonald, Fant and Gordon combined to make six free throws down the stretch.

Jeremy Campbell led the Lions with 17 points and Brandon Fortenberry chipped in with 10.
