Winthrop routs Central Pennsylvania 107-68

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Reggie Middleton scored 19 points to lead six Winthrop players in double figures a 107-68 rout of Central Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Andre Jones finished with 17, Derrick Henry scored 15, Andre Smith had 13 and Shola Diop chipped in with 12 for Winthrop. George Valentine had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Winthrop (1-5) led by five, 37-32, with 3:12 remaining in the first half. But the Eagles used a 21-5 run to take a 56-35 lead into halftime. Jones scored eight points while Central Pennsylvania missed seven of its eight shots and turned the ball over twice during the run.

Devon Dorsey led Central Pennsylvania (4-5) with 15 points.

Winthrop shot an 62.2 percent (46 of 74) from the field, compared to 32.8 percent (21 of 64) for Central Pennsylvania, but only hit 40.9 percent (9 of 22) of its free throws. The Eagles outrebounded the Knights 54-30.
