Michigan's back; OSU hopes its not down for long

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan's back.

The Wolverines closed the regular season with a 40-34 win Saturday over Ohio State that snapped a school-record, seven-game losing streak against the Buckeyes.

College football's winningest team has won 10 games for the first time since 2006 and may play in a BCS bowl for the first time since that same season.

Michigan stayed at No. 17 in The Associated Press college football poll Sunday.

The Buckeyes ended the regular season with a .500 record for the first time since 1999.

Ohio State has said it won't pass up the chance to go to a bowl game -- if the NCAA allows them to play in the postseason.

Former Florida coach Urban Meyer is widely expected to take over the storied program.
