NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Kyle O’Quinn scored 23 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out five assists and tallied five blocks to lead Norfolk State over Eastern Kentucky 70-63 on Sunday.
O’Quinn was 7 of 9 from the field and 9 of 14 from the free-throw line.
The Spartans (4-2) shot 65.7 percent from the field (23 of 35), and outscored Eastern Kentucky 36-20 in the paint.
Pendarvis Williams added 11 points and Norfolk State outscored the Colonels 20-14 off the bench.
The Spartans led 38-34 at halftime, before holding Eastern Kentucky to 30.3 percent shooting in the second half (10 of 33).
Joshua Jones led the Colonels (3-4) with 13 points. Jaron Jones, D’Mitri Riggs and Eric Stutz chipped in 10 points each for Eastern Kentucky.
The Colonels made 27.6 percent of their 3-point attempts (8 of 29), while the Spartans attempted just nine long range shots.
