LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Charles Odum scored 25 points to lead Portland State to a 79-69 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore in the Jim Thorpe Classic on Sunday.

Chehales Tapscott added 16 points and Michael Harthun 15 while Nate Lozeau scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Portland State (4-2).

Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-7), which dropped its sixth straight, was paced by Ishaq Pitt with 16 points while Percy Woods added 12 and Tyler Hines 11. Pina Guillaume scored eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Hawks.

Woods’ layup and free throw with 4:25 to go drew the Hawks within 64-60, but on the next play, Tapscott saved a teammate’s air ball from going out of bounds, flicking the ball to Lozeau for a layup.

After a missed 3 by Maryland-Eastern Shore’s Louis Bell, Lozeau drained a 16-footer and Portland State held on.
