Kenmore likely site for floating bridge work

SEATTLE (AP) -- An industrial site at Kenmore on the north shore of Lake Washington is the likely site for prefabrication work on sections of the new Highway 520 floating bridge between Seattle and Bellevue.

A contractor, Kiewit-General-Manson, wants to lease 14 acres of the Kenmore Industrial Park, which is only six miles away from the bridge location. Workers at Kenmore would finish work on pontoons being cast at Aberdeen.

The seattlepi.com reports (http://is.gd/OU0nIn) Kenmore has some of the last industrial property on the lake. Condominiums were once planned for the site, and some neighbors are grumbling. The city of Kemore is reviewing permit applications for the bridge work.

Construction of the bridge is expected to start next spring next to the existing Highway 520 floating bridge.
