BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The injury-riddled Buffalo Sabres received a bit of a boost Wednesday when goalie Ryan Miller returned to practice for the first time since sustaining a concussion/neck injury.

Miller was hurt when Boston’s Milan Lucic bowled him over in the first period of a 6-2 loss to the Bruins on Nov. 12, and has missed the past eight games. The Sabres are 3-4-1 without him.

Sabres defenseman Jordan Leopold, though, was unable to practice after sustaining an upper-body injury in Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to the New York Islanders. Leopold leads Buffalo defensemen with five goals, a total that ranks fifth overall on the team.

Including Miller and Leopold, the Sabres (13-10-1) are missing eight regulars due to injury.
