CHARLOTTESVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Finally, Frank Vogel’s first full season as Pacers coach is set to begin.

Vogel was named full-time head coach this summer after holding an interim tag last season, though it was uncertain when the league would play again.

With the lockout nearing an end, Vogel is excited. The team has a strong young nucleus that features Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert and Darren Collison. The Pacers lost their first-round playoff series 4-1 to Chicago, despite having a chance to win four of the games.

Vogel finally could talk about the Pacers’ newest acquisition, George Hill. Vogel says the Indianapolis native is a starter-quality player at point guard and shooting guard.

Vogel took advantage of the extra lockout time and got to know his new assistant coaches, Brian Shaw and Jim Boylen.
