WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A Delaware bankruptcy judge says Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and MLB Commissioner Bud Selig do not have to testify at a hearing next week on the team’s plan to sell media rights to future games.
Fox Sports, which has the current media rights contract with the Dodgers, sought to have Selig and McCourt testify at the hearing, but Major League Baseball and the Dodgers argued that their testimony was not necessary.
Following a hearing Wednesday, the judge agreed, saying testimony next week will be limited to expert witnesses for the Dodgers and Fox.
The Dodgers are seeking court approval of a process for marketing media rights for games in 2014 and beyond.
Fox has objected to the proposed sale process, saying it would violate its rights under the existing contract.
