RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Greg Allen scored 11 points and Alexis Moore added 10 to help Southern California defeat UC Riverside 56-35 Wednesday night in the Trojans’ first-ever visit to Riverside.

Phil Martin scored 13 points and Kareem Nitoto added 11 for the Highlanders (2-5), who saw their 16-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents end.

The Trojans (4-4) won their second in a row after recovering from a slow start that had them trailing by eight points to start the game in front of a raucous crowd at the Student Recreation Center. They improved to 5-0 against Riverside, which had played the four previous meetings an hour away in Los Angeles.

The Trojans proved a popular draw. In their only other home game of the season, the Highlanders drew 568. For USC, 2,753 packed the small gym to see if Riverside could knock off its second straight Pac-12 opponent.
