CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Stephen Stansell kicked a 35-yard field goal with 11 seconds left to give Austin Peay a 37-34 win over Tennessee State on Saturday.

On the previous possession, Tennessee State’s Mike German threw an 8-yard pass to Devin Wilson, good enough for a first down. However, the ball was stripped by Austin Peay’s Amius Smith at the Governors’ 47.

Austin Peay then put together two first downs before going for a field goal on the Tigers’ 18.

Jake Ryan led the Governors (2-2, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference) with 314 yards and two touchdowns on 21 of 41 passing.

Mike German kept up with Ryan, throwing for 304 yards and two touchdowns on 21 of 26, but the Tigers (1-4, 0-2) threw the ball 15 fewer times than Austin Peay.

Trabis Ward had 101 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries for the Tigers.
