ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — Two men are uninjured after their boat capsized and broke up on the Columbia River bar.

The Coast Guard says the men were aboard the Elsie, a fishing vessel from Hammond, Ore. Rescuers in a Jayhawk helicopter plucked them from a jetty and flew them to a Coast Guard air station in Astoria.

The Coast Guard says both men were wearing survival suits, which protected them from the elements and made it easier for rescuers to spot them.

Crews reported 8- to 12-foot seas. The air temperate was 56 degrees, and the water was 10 degrees warmer.
