CHENEY, Wash. (AP) — Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns as defending FCS champion Eastern Washington held on over Weber State 27-21 for its first win of the season on Saturday.

Nicholas Edwards caught 10 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (1-4, 1-2 Big Sky).

Mike Hoke completed 21 of 32 passes for 235 yards for the Wildcats (2-3, 2-1), but fumbled deep in Eastern Washington territory with 21 seconds left.

After Mitchell led Eastern Washington to a 24-7 lead with three first-half TD passes — including a 51-yarder to Greg Herd — Weber State responded with Hoke’s 1-yard scoring plunge early in the second half.

Eastern Washington answered with Mike Jarrett’s 32-yard field goal before Weber State struck again. Hoke found Austin Raught on a 40-yard TD strike to close the deficit to 27-21 with 12:53 left in the game.
