Mello lifts New Hampshire over Holy Cross 39-32

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Justin Mello caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Decker with 1:10 remaining to give New Hampshire a 39-32 win over Holy Cross on Saturday.

It was the fourth touchdown pass of the day, with three going for more than 25 yards, for Decker who finished with 352 yards on 23 of 31 passing.

Mello had just two catches, but totaled 107 yards. Mickey Mangieri had 102 yards and a touchdown on six catches for New Hampshire.

Holy Cross (2-2), which trailed 25-13 at halftime, rallied behind Ryan Taggart to tie it at 32 on a 13-yard touchdown run by Taggart.

Taggart finished with 412 yards and two touchdowns on 40 of 57 passing and 55 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries to lead the Crusaders. However, he also threw his first interception since Oct. 16, 2010, after coming in with a streak of 201 consecutive passes without one.
