CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) — Matt Scheible threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more as well as a career-best 161 yards to lead Southeast Missouri to a 37-30 victory over Eastern Illinois on Saturday night.

The Panthers (1-4, 0-3 Ohio Valley) were ahead 17-14 at halftime after Tavares Crawford carried a kickoff return 83 yards for a touchdown.

But Scheible put the Redhawks (1-3, 1-1) on top for good 21-17 early in the third quarter with a 71 yard scoring run.

Eastern Illinois came within 24-23 when Jimmy Garoppolo found Chris Wright with a scoring pass. That was as close as they came.

Garoppolo led the game in passing, completing 16 of 26 attempts for 192 yards. Scheible completed 14 of 18 for 130 yards.

Jake Walker ran for 43 yards and a touchdown for the Panthers while Taylor Kerr added a field goal.
