WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) -- Quarterback Trent Steelman threw for 70 yards and a touchdown and ran for two more touchdowns as Army routed Tulane 45-6 on Saturday.
Raymond Maples had a career-high 141 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Larry Dixon and Kelechi Odocha ran for their first-career touchdowns as the Black Knights (2-3) beat Tulane for the fourth time in five meetings.
Tulane (2-3) needed just three plays and 66 seconds to score the game's first touchdown, a three-yard run by Orleans Darkwa that followed his 67-yard sprint the play before.
But Army, taking advantage of 10 Tulane penalties for 92 yards and four turnovers, found its first real success through the air in a month and surged past Tulane, highlighted by Steelman's 40-yard TD pass to Davyd Brooks to make it 28-6 with 9:54 remaining in the third quarter.
Tulane quarterback Ryan Griffin was 10 for 19 for 74 yards and an interception, as the Green Wave was held to a season-low 199 yards of total offense.
Army's win evened the all-time series between the one-time Conference USA rivals at 9-9-1.
