ROME (AP) — Amanda Knox’s family is at a Rome airport, as the American student acquitted of murdering her British roommate prepares to return to her home in Seattle.

AP photographers and camera crew at Leonardo da Vinci airport saw Knox’s mother and other family members in a terminal where the student is expected to board a British Airways flight to London late Tuesday morning and then catch a connection there for the United States following four years in an Italian prison. Knox was believed to have been escorted by police through a private entrance to the airport.

An appeals court in Perugia Monday night acquitted Knox and her Italian former boyfriend of murdering British student Meredith Kercher in 2007. The two had been convicted by a lower court.
