SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) — Springfield comedian Aaron Jamison who sold advertising space on urns to pay for funeral costs died Sunday.

The 38-year-old had battled colon cancer for more than two years.

He started selling ads after he was diagnosed in February 2009 and told he didn’t have long to live.

His wife Kristin Jamison told The Register Guard (http://bit.ly/n5LGXH ) he sold 14 ads to businesses and groups for $100 each. She says the money will go to help pay medical bills. The Portland branch of the Neptune Society offered to cover his cremation costs.

Jamison hand-painted three urns for his ashes — for his wife, parents and best friend. One of the ads was sold to the PETA animal rights organization. It says, “I’ve kicked the bucket – Have You? Boycott KFC.”
