Seattle police remove protesters from park

SEATTLE (AP) -- Police have arrested around 20 demonstrators who refused to remove their tents from Westlake Park in downtown Seattle.

Demonstrators tussled with officers as they made a last stand, attempting to block police from removing a few tents left at the park.

Police moved in Wednesday afternoon after some demonstrators refused a request from city park rangers to pack up.

Protesters have been camping at the park since the weekend in support of the Occupy Wall Street demonstration in New York. Most of the demonstration on Wednesday was peaceful, except for the few tense moments that led to arrests.

Acting superintendent of city parks Christopher Williams says the city does not allow camping at the urban plaza. He said the vast majority of people complied with the city request.
