Vancouver police at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday responded to a reported bank robbery at a US Bank branch at 7003 N.E. 40th St., near Andresen Road and just north of state Highway 500.

The robber displayed a note demanding money and was given some, said Sgt. Kathie McNicholas with the Vancouver Police Department.

The suspect was described as a white man in his 40s, wearing a black jacket and black baseball hat and carrying a small, zippered black bank bag.

Officers searched the area unsuccessfully. At one point, they detained a man; bank employees looked at him and said he wasn’t the robber.
