Shumway — A grant of $10,000 from the Vancouver Rotary Foundation will provide homeless and low-income children with scholarships to the YWCA Clark County Y’s Care program. Y’s Care provides preschool education, fitness, nutrition and other services in a safe environment for homeless or low-income children from ages 2½ to 5.

Twelve children have already received scholarships through the fund, and this grant will support 12 more. The Vancouver Rotary Foundation has granted over $2.75 million to community agencies in the past 37 years.

The YWCA, based on Main Street, serves more than 11,000 people each year who are victims of domestic violence, homelessness, sexual assault, child abuse and oppression, as well as youth in foster care and incarcerated women.
