A 19-year-old Vancouver man is still in critical condition after being injured in an auto accident Monday afternoon along a major route to the Oregon Coast.

Tyler Flowers of Vancouver was listed in critical condition at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center Wednesday morning, a nursing supervisor said.

His car went off the road, down an embankment and struck a tree around 2 p.m. Monday on Highway 26 near Elsie, Ore.

Flowers was extricated with the help of state troopers, the Elsie Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation. He was taken to a nearby rest area by ambulance and then flown by Life Flight helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.

Oregon State Police are still investigating the case.
