What’s happening in Clark College athletics:

MEN’S SOCCER

Recent result — Goals by Emile Saimovici and Borche Atanasov lifted Clark the win at South Puget Sound on Wednesday. Goalkeeper Tyler Lubbert recorded the shutout.

Standings — The Penguins (6-1-2 overall) have a four-point lead over South Puget Sound (3-3-1) for first place in the NWAACC South Division.

Upcoming schedule — Clark hosts Pierce at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Of note — The next NWAACC men’s soccer poll is due out Thursday. Clark was sixth in the previous poll.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Recent result — Clark fell 1-0 at Clackamas on Wednesday. First-place Clackamas scored in the 31st minute.

Standings — The Penguins (2-8, 2-5 South) are in third place in the NWAACC South Division, behind Clackamas and Lane.

Upcoming schedule — Clark hosts Lane at noon on Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL

Recent result — Clark (6-5 overall) won its third consecutive five-game match, defeating Pierce 25-18, 17-25, 25-16, 21-25, 15-11 on Wednesday at the O’Connell Center. Morgan Harris (Evergreen High grad) had 15 kills and 11 digs; Heidi Davis (Columbia River) had 15 kills; Kelsey Oiness had 33 assists; and Carmen Lafond (Union) had 26 digs.

Standings — Clark enters the weekend tied with Tacoma for first place in the NWAACC West Division, both are undefeated in division play.

Upcoming schedule — Clark visits Tacoma on Friday, and Green River visits Clark on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY

Upcoming schedule — After a week off, the Clark runners are scheduled to compete at the PLU Invitational in Tacoma on Saturday.
