Mom with crying toddler fears TriMet bus driver

A woman whose crying toddler upset a TriMet bus driver says she’s embarrassed but happy other passengers supported her.

Magdalena Rabadan also told KATU through an interpreter she fears running into that driver again.

Despite a language barrier she says she understood the driver wanted her to stop her 2-year-old daughter from crying last Thursday, but there was nothing else she could do. She got off the bus in Hillsboro. Other passengers got off in support and urged her to report the driver.

Rabadan says she had other relatives with her and she called her husband for a ride home.

The driver who said she couldn’t safely drive the bus with the baby-crying noise has been place on leave by the Portland area transit agency for an investigation.
