MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) — Police in McMinnville, Ore., say a 12-year-old baby sitter caused the traumatic head injury that killed a 16-month-old boy.

Capt. Dennis Marks said Thursday that family members brought the younger child Monday evening to an urgent care clinic. The boy was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Marks says the 12-year-old had been baby-sitting several children living in the home. It was not immediately clear from a police statement whether the baby sitter was related to the other children. Marks did not immediately return a call for comment Thursday evening.

No names have been released. Marks says the investigation continues.

McMinnville is southwest of Portland.
