SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — The Puerto Rico Olympic Committee says three athletes have tested positive for banned substances before the start of the Pan American Games next week in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Committee President David Bernier says the athletes will be removed from the delegation and will have to appear before the anti-doping commission.

The committee said in a statement Thursday that track and field athlete Luis Collazo tested positive for testosterone. The committee said weightlifter Solsiris Francisco tested for an anabolic substance and softball player Lisandra Berrios tested positive for a diuretic.

The Pan American Games run from Oct. 14-30.
