LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — The cranberry harvest began this week in bogs on the Long Beach Peninsula.
The Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/qnRlsb ) the harvest is about a week late, but just in time for this weekend’s Cranberrian Fair in Ilwaco.
The Long Beach berries are harvested by flooding the bogs. Those berries are turned into juice.
Other cranberries grown new Westport are dry-harvested and sold as fresh berries.
