James, San Diego run all over Valparaiso 55-14

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Kenny James rushed for 207 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as San Diego routed Valparaiso 55-14.

The Toreros (5-1, 3-1 Pioneer League) rushed for 355 yards as a team and piled up 603 yards of offense. James had TD runs of 4, 40 and 49 yards. Mason Mills and Nick Scudellari also had rushing touchdowns for San Diego, while Mills was 18 of 27 passing for 233 yards and two TDs.

Valparaiso (0-5, 0-2), which is allowing 622 yards of offense per game, fell behind 28-0 at halftime. The Crusaders’ first four drives resulted in three three-and-out possessions and another three-play possession that ended in an interception.

Eric Hoffman was 14 of 26 passing for 213 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Valparaiso, while backup Nick Malantis was 5 of 13 for 59 yards. They were sacked a combined seven times. Gabe Ali-El had 5 receptions for 118 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown.
