JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) — The Defense Department says a California soldier from Joint Base Lewis-McChord died Saturday in combat in Afghanistan.
Twenty-four-year-old Spc. Ricardo Cerros Jr. of Salinas, Calif., died of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with small arms fire.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, at the base near Tacoma.
