Not Just Luck: No. 7 Stanford gaining ‘attitude’

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — Stanford is showing it has more than just Andrew Luck.

Three different running backs ran for touchdowns, Max Bergen blocked a field goal and returned it for a score and Michael Thomas forced the defense’s first interception in No. 7 Stanford’s 48-7 romp over Colorado on Saturday.

Through a 5-0 start this season, the seventh-ranked Cardinal have become a more complete team than a year ago.

Stanford coach David Shaw even made it a point to go for it twice on fourth down with his team already leading big in the second half because he didn’t want to stall the “attitude” they had established.

With bigger matchups looming against Washington, Southern California and Oregon, the Cardinal might be ahead of schedule.
