Vancouver firefighters spent part of the dinner hour Sunday extinguishing a vehicle fire along Interstate 5.

Engine 2, based in the fire station at 400 E. 37th St., was called at 5:35 to the fire. A northbound Geo Tracker SUV caught fire, apparently in the engine compartment. The driver was able to pull over near the 39th Street offramp.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage to anything other than the SUV.

Vancouver police were called to provide traffic control assistance.
